CAIRO – 10 May 2017: The Chairperson of the Administrative Control Authority (ACA) Mohamed Erfan signed Tuesday a cooperation protocol with the World Bank (WB) officials to promote anti-corruption measures in Egypt and develop governance and administration, according to a Tuesday press release by ACA.

This came as part of the ACA’s members’ recent visit to Washington D.C., with a high-profile delegation headed by Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr, where they met with the WB’s President Jim Kim. During this meeting, both parties discussed measures to combat corruption, along with means of the good governance, and how to effectively implement administrative reforms.

This came in response to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s instructions to combat all forms of corruption, employing preventive measures.

ACA’s chairperson and the investment minister held another meeting with the Vice President of WB for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Dr. Hafez Ghanem on the importance of benefiting from the WB’s expertise and practices in the aforementioned areas, asserting that it supports countries in establishing more effective and accountable institutions.

During the meeting, both also stressed on the necessity of accelerating the issuance of business practice reports to monitor each ministry’s performance in their respective fields.

Additionally, Erfan signed a cooperation protocol with Deborah L. Wetzel, WB senior director for the Governance Global Practice, to promote anti-corruption measures and to exchange information on governance indicators and its data sources.
