DEAD SEA - 10 April 2018: There is fruitful cooperation between Egypt and the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) on an investment portfolio estimated at five billion dollars, said Egyptian Minister of Planning Hala El Saeed on Tuesday.

In statements to MENA correspondent in Amman on the sidelines of the 47th session of the joint meetings of Arab Financial Institutions, which kicked off at the Dead Sea, Jordan, earlier in the day, she said the fund plays a key role in economic and social development, pointing out that Egypt benefited from the fund during the past years.

The minister said the meeting focused on two main points, the first is coordination among Arab financial institutions while the second focused on the importance of e-government as part of plans to achieve transparency.

Minster Saeed said she presented to the meeting participants Egypt's efforts to develop economy during the past years including the economic reform program.

Saeed met on Tuesday with Director and Board Chairman of the Arab Fund for Social and Economic Development Abdel Latif Ahmed on the fringe the joint meetings of the Arab Financial Institutions.

During the meeting, the minister reviewed Egypt's efforts to achieve economic reform and implement its plans for reform of the state's administrative body.

The two sides also probed spheres of cooperation and means of providing funding for the programs which are currently carried out by Egypt through the Ministry of Planning as part of Egypt's strategic development vision of 2030.
