CAIRO – 1 May 2017: The government is considering the establishment of a complex for small industries in the New Valley governorate, Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil said in a Monday statement.

The move comes in line with the new industrial complexes that will be set up in Upper Egypt’s governorates. These complexes will be available for investors in mid-May, Kabil said.

Kabil’s remarks were made on the sidelines of his meeting with New Valley governor Mohamed el-Zamalout, during which they discussed mutual coordination between the ministry and the governorate in order to promote New Valley’s industry sector.

The meeting tackled the execution of development projects that will help provide more job opportunities in the governorate and make good use of the its vast resources.

Kabil said that the governorate has many promising investment opportunities in several fields that will help lure Egyptian and foreign investors.

Meanwhile, Kabil said that the talks touched on upgrading the dates industry in New Valley, where there are some 1.8 million palm trees producing about 50,000 tons of dates per year.
