CAIRO - 11 February 2018: UK trade envoy to Egypt Sir Jeffrey Donaldson said Britain became the biggest foreign trade partner to Egypt as its investments exceeded 43 billion dollars over the past decade.

During a meeting with journalists on Sunday, Donaldson - who is currently on a five-day visit to Egypt leading a big trade delegation - said the visit indicates that Britain would continue supporting Egypt.

He added that the negative media coverage abroad would never affect Britain's investment in Egypt, stressing that Egypt is a promising state for business.

He said this is his third visit to Egypt within one year, stressing that Britain seeks to pump more investments into Egypt.

He added that talks are underway with Egypt to clinch an agreement to promote trade partnership.

As for British flights to Egypt, he said there are currently 43 flights from London to Egypt per week, referring to a boost in the number of British tourists in Egypt.

He added that the delegation will visit the new Administrative Capital.

The visit focuses on sectors of petroleum, gas, education, infrastructure and health.

The delegation includes 33 companies affiliated with the Scottish Development International agency, 6 companies from Energy Industries Council, 14 companies from the sector of transport and health care and 4 companies from the education sector.

Donaldson is scheduled to meet with Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Tareq Qabil, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr, Minister of Health Ahmed Emadeldin, Minister of Education Tareq Shawqi, Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Minister of Transport Hisham Barakat.
