CAIRO – 10 February 2018: Petroleum Minister Tarek el-Molla discussed with Japan's Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy Trade and Industry Masaki Ogushi boosting cooperation in oil industry.

The two officials also reviewed the new projects in the field of refining and petrochemicals.

Molla underscored the importance of enhancing the cooperation with Japan, especially in the domain of the technology and establishing the advanced petroleum projects. He praised the historic political and economic ties with Japan.

The visit comes as part of a series of meetings planned to be held between Cairo and Tokyo after electing President Abdel Fattah El Sisi as chairman of the African Union 31st session in 2019.

Sisi had expressed his desire to increase the Japanese investments in the African Continent through Egypt, which was considered a gateway to Africa.

Ogushi praised the relations with Egypt, saying Tokyo was interested in boosting these ties in various fields.
