EGX ends up post Easter holiday, benchmark adds 0.5%

CAIRO – 18 April 2017: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended on a positive note Tuesday, pushed by foreign traders’ purchases following Easter holiday.

The benchmark index (EGX30) rose 0.46 percent to end at 13,027 points. CIB, the index heaviest constituent closed 0.1 percent up.

Eastern Co. 4.6 percent up, Global Telecom 4.5 percent up, and GB Auto 3.3 percent up, were the EGX30’s top performers Tuesday.

The small and mid-cap enterprises EGX70 index edged up 0.5 percent, registering 593 points, and the all-embracing EGX100 was up 0.9 percent, totaling 1,371 points.

Market capitalization gained EGP2.3 billion, totaling nearly EGP664.9 billion ($36.62 billion). Total turnover recorded EGP992 million, and foreign investors were the sole net buyers.
