CAIRO – 21 December 2017: The second edition of Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS 2018) will be held in Cairo next year, bringing together the region’s key stakeholders shaping the energy industry’s future, the event organizer Global Energy division of dmg events, said in a Thursday statement.

The stakeholders will be engaged in showcasing their plans, gaining sights and leverage collaboration opportunities. The exhibition is set to take place from February 12 to 14, 2018.

Held under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, the exhibition will span an area of around 20,000 square meters and host 12 international country pavilions including Bahrain, China, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Russia, Scotland, South Korea, UAE, United Kingdom and United States.

This is an increase from the eight pavilions that took part in the inaugural EGYPS edition, showing heightened global interest in Egypt and the region’s oil and gas industry, the statement said.

In addition to the exhibition, EGYPS 2018 will feature four dedicated conference tracks, namely Strategic, Technical, Women in Energy and the new Security in Energy, hosting over 150 expert speakers and more than 1,000 conference delegates.

Terry Willis, director of Africa and Middle East at the Energy Industries Council (EIC), said that he was delighted that the EIC was once again hosting the UK Pavilion at EGYPS.

“With abundant resources, some of the most competitive production costs worldwide and a government committed to reforming its oil and gas sector now is the time to explore the opportunities on offer in Egypt,” Willis said.

Roman Gavrilin of the Russian Promotion Group said that there was a strong interest expressed by Russian manufacturers in the fast growing Egyptian market and North Africa region in general.

The exhibition is the largest energy event in North Africa and is set to attract more than 400 companies and 15,000 visiting professionals from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Europe, the Americas and Asia.

“Egypt’s economic potential is closely tied to its ability to develop a robust energy industry and the country is now in the golden age of energy possession. The government is working hard and taking steady steps towards enhancing Egypt’s position as an influential player on the global energy map,” Gasser Hanter, VP Egypt and Chairman of Shell said.

The two-day conference will host global business leaders discussing key industry topics to support global progress, develop international frameworks and foster growth through strategic partnerships focusing on the shifting dynamics of global trade markets and emerging North African and Mediterranean energy hubs for product export and transit.

The technical track , which will involve over 120 international expert speakers, will focus on issues and challenges concerning a wide range of aspects relevant to oil and gas production, development, performance, generation and innovation.

The Women in Energy sessions will identify the best practices to overcome strategic and regulatory challenges to facilitate the inclusion of women at board level and attract a diverse talent base from both technical and non-technical backgrounds and develop policies that ensure fair benefits for all energy sector employees.

The first edition of the show, EGYPS 2017, took place from February 13 to 15, 2017.
