EKBC’s Head: Egyptian – South Korean forum to be held on Tuesday

CAIRO – 3 December 2017: The 10th session of the Egyptian – Korean Business Council (EKBC) will be launched on Tuesday, Egyptian – South Korean Business Council’s (EKBC) Head, Raouf Ghabbour, said in a statement.

The event will be organized by the Egyptian Businessmen Association (EBA) with a number of prominent Korean companies.

Ghabbour pointed out that the event includes two sessions. The first session will aim to discuss the investing climate in Egypt and Korea and the bank’s role in making funds available. The second session will be for discussing investing in infrastructure, logistics.

“We will focus on the climates of doing business in Egypt and the consequences of the government reform program which included the pound flotation, the new investment law and the act of industrial permit,” He pointed out.

The forum will also discuss promoting investments in megaprojects; Korean companies are very interested in the New Administrative Capital and the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

Bilateral trade between Egypt and South Korea amounted to $916 million during first eight months of 2017, announced the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). The Korean Investments in Egypt amounted to around $400 million in 2016.

Meanwhile, the annual rate for the total trade between the two countries reached almost $2.3 billion in 2016, the South Korean embassy to Egypt said in late May.
