BARCELONA - 22 November 2017: Egypt received Wednesday the presidency of the Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) which groups more than 500 commercial and industrial chambers from 24 countries overlooking the Mediterranean Sea representing 28 million firms.

This came during the activities of the 11th round of the Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders held during November 22-24 in the Spanish city of Barcelona.

After receiving the presidency of the two-year term, the President of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) Ahmed el Wakeel said that the election of Egypt was the result of efforts exerted by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to enhance the Egyptian presence in the international arena in order to promote the economic ties between Egypt and world countries to achieve sustainable development for the Egyptian economy.

Wakeel stressed the importance of bolstering relations between the Mediterranean Sea nations in various technological and marketing fields besides benefiting from the youth and raw materials of these countries.
