CAIRO – 5 November 2017: Minister of Finance Amr el-Garhy approved LE 3.9 billion ($221 million) in additional allocations from the state budget to state entities including the Petroleum Ministry in October, a Sunday statement from the ministry reported.

The allocations included LE 3.4 billion for the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) for the ration cards and bread subsidies.

Another LE 60.6 million was allotted for the Health Insurance Organization for providing subsidies to students, women breadwinners and infants.

This is in addition to LE 220 million for the National Media Authority to meet its commitments towards its employees.

Around LE 40 million were directed to the Ministry of Petroleum to complete its project of connecting natural gas to households.

Meanwhile, the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater obtained LE 62.5 million to be distributed to affiliated companies to meet their needs.

The Supreme Council of Culture got LE 2.5 million to pay salaries of employees in October.
