CAIRO – 10 October 2017: Minister of Investment Sahar Nasr and German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Gerd Müller laid the foundation stone of Siemens’ professional training center in Ain Sokhna Tuesday, an official statement said.

The center comes as part of an agreement signed between Egypt and Germany with the aim of upgrading professional and technical training in Egypt, Nasr said in a statement.

Funded by the Deutsche GesellschaftfürInternationaleZusammenarbeit (GIZ), the project targets training more than 5,500 Egyptians over the next four years in the fields of industrial mechanics, electrical, electronics, control and automation.

“The center will also upgrade workers abilities in maintenance of power and wind plants,” Nasr added.

Siemens is leading a giant €8 billion ($9.4 billion) contract to build three 4,800MW combined cycle gas-fired plants in Egypt, each with eight units. The power plants will be located in Burullus, the New Administrative Capital and BeniSuef.
Local company Elsewedy Electric is the main contractor on the BeniSuef power plant, while Orascom is working on the Burullus and New Capital projects.

The project involves six 500/220kW substations.
