CAIRO - 2 October 2017: Investment and International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr called on Monday for achieving sustainable development goals, stressing that these goals will not be realized unless women were empowered through education and training.

Addressing a conference on sustainable development organized by the Arab League, Nasr lauded President Abdel Fatah El Sisi's declaration of 2017 as the Year of Women, calling for exerting efforts to enhance women's role in the economic, political and social domains.

When negotiating with international bodies financing small and medium-sized enterprises, we try to allocate 40 percent of the funds to projects carried out by women, she added.

She expressed keenness on providing more services to women.

She unveiled an initiative by the UN to set up a Women's Entrepreneurship Fund in rural areas
