CAIRO – 17 September 2017: State-owned Egyptian Company for Gas Transferring and Deliverance (Butagasco) will pump 275,000 cylinders of butange gas per day during the winter, company chairman Hussein Fathy announced Sunday.

The figure is more than the 225,000 cylinders of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) that was supplied to the market during the summer season, due to higher demands in winter, Fathy said.

Butagasco's sales of butane gas cylinders amounted to 40 million in the first half of 2017, with an increase of five million cylinders compared to the year-ago period
The company has opened 262 fixed distribution outlets, of small capacity, and 174 warehouses across Egypt.

There are 40 private sector companies working in packing LPG cylinders, representing 55 percent of the market.

The government increased fuel prices in late June, with the price of LPG cylinders increasing from LE 15 per cylinder to LE 30, representing a 100 percent hike.
