CAIRO - 8 September 2017: Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek kabil said that China’s SKG Electric Co. is mulling over establishing a new project to produce household appliances in Egypt, the Industry Ministry said in a Friday statement.

The ministry is keen to support all industrial projects in line with the strategy it has launched that aims to increase the local components in national products, which in turn will contribute to boosting local industry and increasing the products' competitiveness in both domestic and overseas markets, he said.

kabil made the remarks during his meeting with the deputy chairman of the SKG group, one of China’s biggest companies manufacturing household appliances.

Egypt has all the capabilities that qualify it to upgrade the home appliances industry, the minister said, noting that several Egyptian factories are working in this field.

Meanwhile, the Chinese figure asserted that SKG is preparing for founding a representation office for the company in Egypt within the coming period.

SKG will also set up a maintenance center for the company's products in Egypt, she added.
