CAIRO – 7 September 2017: Head of the Egyptian Stock Exchange Mohamed Farid participated in the 57th annual meeting of the World Federation of Exchange (WFE) hosted by the Stock Exchange of Thailand on September 6-8.

More than 300 delegations along with the 200 members of the WFE take part in the event.

In a statement on Thursday, Farid said that the participation of Egypt’s bourse comes within the framework of its keenness on boosting contacts with stock market pioneers at the international level to support the Egyptian vision in developing the system of the international stock markets.

The meeting took up a number of issue that would affect the future of the stock market, topped by a legislation of the European Union on allowing financial institutions and investment banks established in the EU to trade outside their geographical zone, he said.

The meeting also shed light on the latest technological programs used in stock markets and the role of technology in raising the bourses' efficiency.

The World Federation of Exchanges officially first saw the light of day in London on October 12-13 1961.

The Conference of European Stock Exchanges was the original name of the organization, whose foundation followed hot on the heels of the European Common Market set up by the Treaty of Rome in 1957 during the golden age of optimism about the value of international cooperation.
