CAIRO – 3 September 2017: Egypt, represented in the Tourism Development Authority, is participating in the 2017 China-Arab States Expo as a guest of honor.

The expo will be held from September 6-9, 2017 in Ningxia, China and will be attended by foreign and Arab delegations. Egypt is participating with a 120- square meter pavilion that will include 15 hotels and tourist companies.

Egypt’s tourist consultant in China, Abo ElMaati Shaarawi said that Egypt received 18,000 Chinese tourists in May and 150,000 tourists in the period from January to May 2017, increasing by 94 percent compared to last year.

He said in previous statements that China ranked 9th among the biggest 10 countries exporting tourism to Egypt.

Shaarawi said that the expo will highlight the Egyptian tourist products and will promote the country’s tourist destinations. He added that an “Egyptian tourist night” will be held during the fair.

The China-Arab States Expo has played an important role in promoting business relations between China and Arab states in line with the development of "One Belt and One Road" initiative.

President Abdel-Fatah al-Sisi is currently in China to attend the ninth annual BRICS summit upon an invitation for Egypt to attend the event. Trade minister Tarek Kabil will attend the inauguration of the expo.
