EGX ends in mixed note, benchmark down 0.1%

CAIRO – 27 August 2017: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indexes showed a mixed performance during Sunday’s session, gaining approximately LE 1.5 billion.

The benchmark index EGX30 inched down 0.10 percent to close at 12,913 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 went up 1.16 percent to end at 699.16 points. The broader index EGX100 index also increased 0.81 percent to close near 1,567.67 points.

Market capitalization gained LE 1.48 billion, totaling LE 690.488 billion, up from LE 689.008 billion Thursday.

Shares of 75 listed companies recorded hikes, while shares of 72 companies declined and stocks of 30 companies remained unchanged at the end of the trading session.

Foreign investors and Egyptian institutions were net sellers with a value of LE 1.3 million and LE 35.6 million respectively, while Arab and Egyptian traders and Arab and foreign institutions were net buyers at LE 4.7 million, LE 14.97 million, LE 478,000 and LE 16.7 million respectively.

Local and foreign investors and Arab institutions were net sellers with a total of LE 10 million, LE 2.7 million and LE 14.5 million, respectively, while Arab traders, Egyptian and foreign companies purchased by a total of LE28.1 million.
