Oil, gas output up while diesel, butane imports down in June

CAIRO – 27 August 2017: Egypt’s production of oil and gas hiked year-on-year in June, while diesel consumption and butane gas import declined in the same month, the state statistics body said.

Total gas output reached 3.18 million tons in June 2017, compared to 2.53 million tons in June 2016, while oil and gas production combined registered 5.88 million tons in that month, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in an August report.

Meanwhile, natural gas consumption hiked to 3.68 million tons, up from 3.3 million tons in the corresponding month last year, CAPMAS highlighted.

The consumption rate of petroleum products declined to 3 million tons, compared to 3.4 million tons in June 2016.

As for butane gas, the production rate recorded 149,000 tons in June, compared to 324,500 in the same month last year, while consumption rate recorded 324,500 tons, down from 339,500 tons.

Butane imports recorded 167,600, down from 182,000 tons.

Diesel imports declined as well to 1 million tons, compared to 1.18 million tons in June 2016, while its consumption went up to 607,000 tons from 581,000 tons.
