CAIRO - 22 Aug 2017: Meeting with a World Bank delegation here Tuesday, Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker reviewed current and future cooperation in the energy field.

Shaker said the WB contribution to funding electricity projects in Egypt reflects confidence in the sector.

The WB delegates were pleased with electricity achievements in Egypt, especially where power feeding is concerned.

The electricity sector has succeeded in filling the gaps, turning deficit into surplus, said a proud Shaker.

The electricity sector will also be able to meet power needs of all investing parties once three plants it implements in cooperation with Germany's Siemens are completed, Shaker told the delegation.

Replacing and renewing power transmission and distribution networks remains a top priority of the sector, the minister said.

The delegation said the WB is keen on effectively contributing to expansions of projects to generate electricity from renewable energy sources.

It is also seeking to support power transmission grids and help complete the restructuring of the electricity sector in Egypt, the delegates added.
