CAIRO - 13 August 2017: Germany’s Siemens awarded contracts to build two more substations for Burllus power plant.

The substations, which will be located at Samanoud and Aboul Matameer, will transmit power from Burullus plant to households in the Delta region, Trade Arabia reported Sunday.

Under the contract, Siemens will undertake design, engineering, construction, supply, installation and commissioning of the two substations, which will work at a capacity of 500/220kV for each.

Siemens is leading an €8 billion ($9.4 billion) contract to build three 4,800MW combined cycle gas-fired plants in Egypt, each with eight units. The power plants will be located in Burullus, the New Administrative Capital and Beni Suef.

Local company Elsewedy Electric is the main contractor on the Beni Suef power plant, while Orascom is working on the Burullus and New Capital projects.

The project involves six 500/220kW substations.
