EGX ends on mixed note, benchmark down 0.17%

CAIRO – 8 August 2017: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) saw a mixed performance at the end of Tuesday’s session. Total turnover lost LE 232.7 million to LE 677 million, down from LE 900.7 million achieved on Monday.

The benchmark index EGX 30 fell 0.17 percent to close at 13,638 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 increased 0.48 percent to end at 718 points. The broader index EGX100 added 0.24 percent to 1,616 points.

Market capital slightly grew to LE 715.9 billion compared to LE 715.13 billion on Sunday.
Arab and local investors were net purchasers with a total of LE 9.6 million and LE 2.15 million, respectively, while foreign traders sold by LE 11.8 million.

Total turnover lost LE 232.7 million to LE 677 million, down from LE 900.7 million achieved on Monday, while trade volume registered 279 million shares, compared to 261.7 million shares last session.

Universal for Paper and Packaging Materials (Unipack) topped gainers and skyrocketed 19.6 percent, while Suez Bags led the worst performers and declined 8.4 percent.
