CAIRO – 26 July 2026: Egypt exported more than 2.3 million tonnes of petroleum products during the first half of 2026, matching the country’s total exports for all of 2025, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi said.
Exports are expected to increase further to around 2.5 million tonnes during the second half of the year.
The value of petroleum product exports reached approximately $2.3 billion between January and June 2026, while Egypt’s domestic crude oil production rose to its highest level in nearly two years.
Badawi attributed the increase to the ministry’s strategy of attracting investment, accelerating field development and improving production efficiency. The settlement of outstanding payments to foreign investment partners has also encouraged companies to inject new capital and expand exploration, development and production activities.
In the refining sector, capacity utilization increased to around 80 percent in 2026, helping Egypt meet domestic demand, reduce its dependence on imports and expand exports of products with a local surplus.
The gasoline complex operated by Cairo Oil Refining Company in Mostorod increased monthly production by approximately 45,000 tonnes of gasoline and 40,000 tonnes of jet fuel.
Alexandria National Refining and Petrochemicals Company, known as ANRPC, is currently operating at more than 110 percent of its design capacity.
Amreya Petroleum Refining Company also raised its monthly production of 92-octane gasoline by between 10,000 and 15,000 tonnes, while operating rates at the Middle East Oil Refinery, known as MIDOR, have also increased.
Development work is continuing at Alexandria Petroleum Company’s lubricants complex as part of broader efforts to improve refinery performance.
The ministry is implementing a new package of refinery modernization projects supported by approximately $4.5 billion in investments and financing.
The projects are designed to strengthen Egypt’s energy security, reduce the country’s import bill and improve the competitiveness of Egyptian petroleum exports.
During fiscal year 2025/2026, Alexandria Petroleum Company also increased its production of asphalt and fuel oil.
