Five Egyptian agricultural products gain immediate access to Philippine market

CAIRO – 26 July 2026: Egypt and the Philippines have signed an agreement granting five Egyptian agricultural products immediate access to the Philippine market, including grapes, onions, garlic, tomatoes and carrots.

The agreement was signed by Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, during the 10th round of political consultations between the two countries in Manila.

Held at the ministerial level for the first time, the consultations were co-chaired by Abdelatty and Philippine Foreign Secretary Maria Theresa Lazaro.

Both ministers described the agreement as a strategic step toward strengthening food security, expanding bilateral trade and creating new opportunities for Egyptian agricultural exports across Southeast Asian markets.

Abdelatty also said the Egyptian Embassy in Manila is working closely with the relevant Philippine authorities to complete the technical procedures required to allow Egyptian potato exports into the market in the near future.

Further efforts are underway to expand market access for Egyptian fertilizers, facilitate the registration of medicines and dietary supplements, and increase exports of fabrics and cotton textiles.
