Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has informed the Egyptian government that an industrial developer has been selected for the Russian Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), marking a key step towards launching the project.

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said the selection would help accelerate the activation of the zone, attract Russian investment and pave the way for operations to begin in the coming period.

Abdelatty noted that the announcement follows talks held with his Russian counterpart and representatives of major Russian companies during his visit to Moscow in April 2026.

Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov welcomed Egypt’s efforts to establish and operationalise the zone, highlighting the legislative reforms, investment incentives and facilitation measures introduced by the Egyptian government.

Alikhanov reiterated Russia’s commitment to moving forward with the project and strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade and investment.
