Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inspected several agricultural and livestock production projects in Giza and Beheira on Wednesday as part of the government’s efforts to expand domestic food production and encourage private investment.

Madbouly said Egypt’s agricultural sector is witnessing a significant transformation under the state’s strategy to increase crop and livestock output, meet local demand and boost exports.

He noted that agriculture remains a key pillar of the government’s plans to achieve sustainable and inclusive economic development.

The prime minister added that food security and rural development are among the state’s highest strategic priorities. Government initiatives, he said, have helped turn many of the sector’s longstanding challenges into promising opportunities for investment and growth.

Madbouly said the government is also accelerating the development of livestock production to secure sufficient supplies of meat and dairy products, reduce the gap between domestic output and consumption, stabilise market prices and limit reliance on imports.

He explained that the inspection tour covered a number of privately owned agricultural and livestock projects, reflecting the government’s commitment to supporting investors and addressing any obstacles they may face.

The state views the private sector as a key partner in the development process, Madbouly said, adding that greater private investment would help stimulate economic growth and expand production across several sectors.

Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk said the government is adopting a comprehensive strategy to improve the productivity and economic returns of livestock farms and production facilities.

The plan includes upgrading existing facilities and establishing new centres equipped with modern technologies and advanced scientific methods in breeding, production and genetic improvement.

According to Farouk, the objective is to develop a sustainable national production base that can help maintain stable prices for red meat and dairy products.

He added that the government is improving livestock breeds, raising the efficiency of farms and production stations, modernising milk collection centres and expanding the participation of private companies and civil society organisations.

Farouk said these measures are part of Egypt’s broader plan to establish a modern and sustainable livestock production system capable of meeting domestic demand, balancing supply and consumption, and supporting long-term economic growth.
