President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has called for continued efforts to localize marine vessel manufacturing in Egypt to meet domestic needs across the Suez Canal, Egyptian ports and inland water transport, while opening new export opportunities through partnerships with the private sector.
The president made the remarks during a meeting with Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, and Mostafa El Degeishy, Chairman of the South Red Sea Shipyard Company.
El-Sisi stressed the importance of meeting the highest quality standards, adhering to delivery timelines and fully applying occupational safety and health requirements. He also highlighted the need for continuous training and development of technical workers.
The meeting reviewed navigation activity through the Suez Canal during fiscal year 2025/2026, in addition to progress on new marine vessels planned for launch in the coming period.
Officials also presented updates on the preparation of two fibreglass factories at the Suez Canal Company for Modern Boats, established through a partnership between the Suez Canal Authority and the South Red Sea Shipyard Company.
The project includes the construction of fibreglass vessels, with the hulls of three passenger boats already completed to support marine and Nile tourism.
The meeting further reviewed progress on building 12 deep-sea fishing vessels under the “Rizq” model using advanced technologies, as well as the manufacturing of a 60-passenger river bus for Cairo Governorate.
El-Sisi also followed developments in the construction of “Azm” marine tugboats with a bollard pull capacity of 90 tonnes, reiterating the importance of compliance with all safety and quality standards.
