El-Sisi approves $300M AIIB loan to support resilience programme

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has formally approved a $300 million financing agreement with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to support the “Enhancing Resilience, Opportunities and Wellbeing in Egypt” programme.

The approval was issued under Presidential Decree No. 434 of 2025, which was published in the Official Gazette following Cabinet approval. The agreement was approved by the House of Representatives on March 30, 2026, and ratified by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on April 6, 2026.

The funding will support the implementation of the programme as part of Egypt’s broader cooperation with the AIIB.
