The figure compares with $2.27 billion during the same period in 2025, underscoring the sector’s continued expansion in international markets despite global trade pressures.
Spain emerged as the fastest-growing destination for Egyptian food exports, with shipments more than doubling to $103 million from $51 million, an increase of 103 percent.
Saudi Arabia remained one of Egypt’s largest export markets, with food shipments rising 21 percent to $213 million. Exports to Palestine grew 47 percent to $81 million, while China recorded a 42 percent increase to $82 million.
The UK also posted strong growth, with Egyptian food exports increasing 61 percent to $61 million. Shipments to Jordan rose 22 percent to $110 million, while exports to Iraq increased 26 percent to $87 million.
Exports to the United States reached $160 million, up 11 percent, while Yemen recorded growth of 29 percent to $50 million. Tunisia was another standout market, with exports rising 77 percent to $22 million.
Collectively, these markets accounted for around 40 percent of Egypt’s total food industry exports between January and April 2026. Their combined value reached $969 million, compared with $734 million in the same period last year, marking an increase of approximately $235 million.
The Food Export Council said the performance reflects Egyptian companies’ growing competitiveness abroad and the broader expansion of Egyptian food products across key regional and international markets.
