CAIRO - 15 June 2026: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed the Egyptian government’s strict commitment to executing its economic and structural reform program to boost the country's investment climate, Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf said in a Monday statement.
Speaking during a high-level meeting in Luxembourg with European Investment Bank (EIB) President Nadia Calviño, Abdelatty witnessed the signing of two major agreements: a government pact to upgrade Egypt’s electricity grid and a breakthrough project to develop a multi-vaccine production factory for VACSERA, marking Egypt’s first health-sector cooperation project with the EIB.
Abdelatty lauded the deep developmental partnership with the EIB, emphasizing that Egypt remains the bank's largest country of operations outside the European Union.
The foreign minister underscored the vital impact of EIB-funded infrastructure projects, specifically in transport, water, sanitation, and food security. He highlighted the bank's central role in supporting Egypt’s NWFE program, a national platform linking water, food, and energy sectors to mobilize concessional financing for a green economy transition.
Abdelatty called for maximizing the role of the EIB regional hub in Cairo to foster broader regional cooperation.
He expressed Egypt's desire to expand joint operations into future green transition, public health, and housing projects.
