CAIRO - 8 June 2026: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated a new production line at Nissan Egypt’s plant in 6th of October City, with investments worth $45 million.

The new line will produce the Nissan Magnite, as the company continues to expand its manufacturing operations in the Egyptian market.

Mohamed Abdel Samad, Managing Director of Nissan Africa, said Nissan’s total investments in Egypt have reached around $276 million.

He added that local components now represent 55 percent of the company’s passenger cars, noting that Nissan Egypt sold 32,000 vehicles and exported 25,000 vehicles in 2025. The company’s market share in Egypt also stood at around 18.6 percent.

Abdel Samad said Nissan aims to raise its annual production capacity to 50,000 vehicles in the coming years, compared to 30,000 vehicles currently.

Madbouly said Egypt is working to attract priority investments in key sectors, including labor-intensive industries that create jobs and training opportunities for young Egyptians, as well as advanced technology-based industries that add value to local production.

He stressed that the state will continue supporting the industrial sector by localizing national industries and increasing local component ratios.

Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem said Egypt is working to improve the investment climate, offer incentives, and adopt industrial policies that encourage international companies to expand their manufacturing activities in the country.

Hashem added that the automotive industry is one of the ministry’s top priorities, given its role in attracting investment, transferring technology, developing feeder industries, creating jobs, and increasing exports.

He said the ministry is working to make industrial investment easier through simplified procedures, improved access to industrial services, serviced industrial land, and support for production expansions, adding that the private sector remains a key partner in sustainable industrial development.

Hashem noted that the National Automotive Industry Development Program reflects Egypt’s commitment to building a modern and sustainable automotive industry by increasing local components, deepening local manufacturing, maximizing added value, attracting new investments, supporting the production of new models, and strengthening export capabilities.

He also said Egypt’s major infrastructure investments in roads, ports, airports, and power stations have improved the country’s competitiveness in attracting global investments and technology transfer.
