CAIRO – 7 June 2026: Egypt’s net foreign reserves increased by the end of May 2026, reaching $53.134 billion, compared to $53.009 billion at the end of April, according to data released by the Central Bank of Egypt.

This marks a monthly rise of $125 million.

Egypt’s foreign reserves are made up of a basket of major international currencies, including the US dollar, euro, pound sterling, Japanese yen, and Chinese yuan. The distribution of these holdings is managed according to currency exchange rates and their stability in global markets, based on a plan set by CBE officials.

The increase comes alongside a strong rise in remittances from Egyptians working abroad, which grew by 32 percent during the first nine months of FY2025/2026 to reach $34.9 billion, compared to $26.4 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year, according to CBE data released earlier this month.
