CAIRO - 3 June 2026: Egypt has appointed Alaa El-Bially as the new head of the Egyptian General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences, according to a ministerial decree issued by the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Dr. Mohamed Fared.
El-Bially succeeds Essam El-Naggar, who has been assigned to head Egypt’s commercial office in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, as part of broader changes within the country’s trade and investment apparatus.
The ministry said an official handover meeting was held to ensure continuity of operations and maintain the authority’s role in supporting export promotion and investment attraction.
El-Bially, who brings more than 25 years of experience in trade diplomacy and international business development, previously led investment promotion efforts within Egypt’s commercial representation system and held diplomatic and economic posts in Canada and the United States.
He holds an MBA from Johns Hopkins University and has worked extensively in trade and investment roles across multiple international postings.
El-Naggar has held several senior positions in Egypt’s economic ministries and diplomatic missions abroad, including advisory roles at the Ministries of Finance and Trade and postings in Morocco, South Africa and Poland.
