CAIRO - 25 May 2026: Egypt’s government has approved new amendments to the tourism sector support initiative, allowing wider access to subsidized financing for tourism companies as part of efforts to stimulate investment and accelerate project implementation.

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said the changes will allow banks to use the remaining funds under the LE50 billion initiative to activate pending financing requests already registered on the CBE’s system but not yet executed. Banks have until the end of June 2026 to finalize the activation process.

Under the revised framework, the maximum financing available for a single client was set at LE2 billion, subject to the company’s business volume and existing banking rules.

The amendments also introduced greater flexibility for larger projects, allowing financing for a client and related parties to reach up to LE4 billion after obtaining joint approval from the ministers of finance and tourism and antiquities.

The initiative, funded by the Ministry of Finance, is part of broader government efforts to support the tourism industry, expand hotel and tourism capacity, and encourage new investments in one of Egypt’s key foreign currency-generating sectors.

The CBE stressed that all participating banks must continue complying with the initiative’s regulatory guidelines and financing controls.
