CAIRO - 5 May 2026: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has reviewed the progress of the National Industrial Strategy 2026-2030, which aims to increase non-petroleum exports to $100 billion.

In a Monday meeting attended by Industry Minister Khaled Hashem, the ministry detailed a comprehensive roadmap to position Egypt as a leader in global value chains.

The strategy, developed alongside the private sector and the Federation of Egyptian Industries, focuses on 16 sectors evaluated by export competitiveness and value-added potential.

Seven high-priority areas were identified: ready-made garments, textiles, food industries, automobiles, electrical equipment, electronics assembly, and pharmaceuticals.

Minister Hashem explained the "Industrial Map" program, which uses data-driven frameworks to balance short-term growth with long-term modernization.

The strategy also addresses "distressed factories," aiming to convert halted assets into production opportunities through new legislative and regulatory frameworks. This includes laws governing industrial zones and unit ownership to encourage horizontal expansion.

The plan further includes a "Productive Village" model to localize industries based on regional advantages and a program to upgrade local suppliers to reduce import reliance.

For SMEs, the ministry is establishing integrated industrial complexes equipped with modern technology and e-commerce incubators for young investors.
