CAIRO - 29 April 2026: The Egyptian Cabinet approved on Wednesday the use of the remaining funds from the total LE50 billion financing initiative dedicated to supporting the tourism sector, which aims to help tourism companies expand hotel capacity across targeted governorates.
The decision comes after the application period closed for the platform launched by the Central Bank of Egypt to receive requests from hotel sector clients, which officially ended on April 20, 2026.
The Cabinet also approved the exceptional reopening of the Central Bank’s platform, restricting it solely to registering exemption requests that allow projects to exceed the maximum financing ceiling set under the initiative, capped at LE2 billion per client and its affiliated companies.
These exemptions will be granted only to projects classified as strategically important by both the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Ministry of Finance.
The Cabinet stressed that the Central Bank of Egypt must be formally notified through an official letter from the Ministry of Finance to activate such exemptions, in line with the initiative’s governing rules and regulatory framework.
