CAIRO – 27 April 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, earlier today to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and advancing key joint initiatives.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed El-Shennawy, the President welcomed Patrushev and his accompanying high-level delegation, reaffirming Egypt’s pride in its longstanding strategic partnership with Russia. He also expressed his appreciation for Russian President Vladimir Putin, highlighting the steady progress in relations between the two countries, particularly in trade and large-scale development projects.

Among the most prominent projects discussed were the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant and the development of a Russian industrial zone within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, both seen as cornerstone initiatives reflecting the strength and depth of Egyptian-Russian ties.

El-Shennawy added that Patrushev conveyed President Putin’s greetings to President El-Sisi, stressing Russia’s commitment to continuing close cooperation with Egypt to implement the strategic partnership agreements and follow through on understandings reached during the President’s visit to Russia in May 2025, as well as through ongoing communications between the two leaders, most recently on March 31, 2026.

The talks also addressed opportunities to expand cooperation across multiple sectors, including maritime navigation. In this regard, both sides reviewed the progress of current joint projects and explored potential new initiatives under discussion between the Russian delegation and relevant Egyptian authorities.
