CAIRO - 22 April 2026: Egypt’s mobile wallet transactions reached around LE 4 trillion by the end of 2025, according to data released by the Central Bank of Egypt.
The number of mobile wallets increased to 60 million by the end of 2025, compared to 15.2 million in 2019.
The data showed steady growth over the past years, rising from 19.8 million wallets in 2020 to 25.2 million in 2021, and 30.4 million in 2022.
The upward trend continued in 2023 and 2024, reaching 39.4 million and 50.4 million wallets respectively, before reaching 60 million in 2025.
The central bank data reflects continued expansion in the use of mobile-based payment services in Egypt.
