CAIRO - 21 April 2026: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly took part in the Egypt–Finland Business Forum, held at the headquarters of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones in Cairo under the patronage of Finnish President Alexander Stubb, with the participation of ministers, senior officials, and business leaders from both countries.
During the forum, Madbouly said the event reflects the depth of ties between Egypt and Finland and highlights the growing momentum in economic cooperation, noting that both sides share ambitions for innovation, sustainability, and long-term growth.
He pointed to Finland’s leading position in digital transformation, education, and green technology, while presenting Egypt as a strategic entry point to the Middle East and Africa, supported by a young population and an extensive infrastructure development agenda.
Madbouly said Egypt has carried out wide-ranging structural reforms in recent years to improve the business environment and make it more attractive to investors. These measures included strengthening the legislative framework for investment protection, streamlining business setup procedures, and expanding infrastructure, particularly through the Suez Canal Economic Zone, which offers strong incentives for Finnish companies looking to access export markets.
He also underlined Egypt’s commitment to green transformation, an area that aligns closely with Finland’s strengths in renewable energy and circular economy solutions.
The Prime Minister called on Finnish companies to explore opportunities across a number of priority sectors, including digital transformation, information and communications technology, clean energy, water, education, healthcare, and manufacturing. He said Egypt offers promising prospects for cooperation in areas such as 5G, artificial intelligence, green hydrogen, desalination, waste-to-energy, and joint industrial projects.
Madbouly added that Egypt’s network of trade agreements, including the African Continental Free Trade Area, gives investors access to a market of around 1.3 billion consumers.
He reiterated that the Egyptian government seeks to serve as a true partner for investors, not just a regulator, stressing its commitment to addressing challenges and ensuring the long-term success of investments in the country.
Madbouly added that President Stubb’s visit represents an important step in strengthening bilateral relations and voiced hope that the forum would open the door to new partnerships and broader cooperation between Egypt and Finland.
