CAIRO - 21 April 2026: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced on Tuesday a new social protection package to support citizens amid global economic crises, highlighting the state's commitment to easing the cost-of-living burdens for vulnerable groups.

During a Tuesday plenary session at the House of Representatives, Madbouly stated that the government has decided to increase wages for the new 2026/2027 fiscal year by 21% compared to the previous year.

The plan includes raising the minimum wage to 8,000 EGP per month.

The Prime Minister noted that the total cost of these measures will exceed 100 billion pounds, with implementation set to begin on July 1.

The package also includes the application of periodic increments for employees covered by the Civil Service Law, as well as those who are not.
