CAIRO - 16 April 2026: Egypt is prioritising job creation, education investment and support for entrepreneurship as part of its economic and social development strategy for the coming fiscal year, Planning Minister Ahmed Rostom said.

In remarks during a televised interview with the World Bank Group on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings in Washington, Rostom said expanding employment opportunities remains a central objective for the government.

He noted that public investments are being directed toward improving the quality of key services, particularly in healthcare and education, as part of efforts to enhance human capital and long-term economic growth.

The minister said investment in education quality will be a top priority in the upcoming fiscal year’s development plan, alongside initiatives to foster entrepreneurship and expand access to long-term financing for infrastructure projects.

He added that the government is working to promote productive communities, especially in labour-intensive regions and agricultural areas in Upper Egypt, to support sustainable job creation and improve living standards.

Rostom is attending the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund as part of Egypt’s official delegation, where he has been engaging with international partners including the International Finance Corporation and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency on strengthening cooperation and financing opportunities.
