CAIRO - 15 April 2026: Egypt’s Ministry of Transport has started implementing a large-scale logistics zone in Arish, covering 603 feddans, as part of efforts to enhance logistics infrastructure in North Sinai and support regional trade.

The project will feature storage and handling yards, administrative buildings, and cold storage facilities designed to facilitate transit trade and improve supply chain efficiency, according to an official statement issued Wednesday.

Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir said the project represents a key pillar of the Arish–Taba logistics corridor, which connects the Mediterranean Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. He stressed the need to accelerate implementation to maximize its economic impact.

The Arish zone is part of a broader network of logistics hubs being developed across Sinai, including East Qantara, Rafah, Baghdad, Hassana, Naqb, Taba, El Tor, and Ras Sudr, aimed at attracting investment and boosting trade activity.

The corridor will also link with the “Arab Corridor” project connecting Egypt with Jordan and Iraq, reinforcing the country’s ambition to become a regional trade and logistics hub.

Egypt is planning to establish 7 integrated logistics corridors that include 33 logistics zones and dry ports, connecting key production centers with seaports on the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.

During his visit, El-Wazir also reviewed progress at Port of Arish, where marine works are being carried out in phases. The first and third phases have been completed, while the second phase has reached 51.1 percent, and work on the eastern basin’s second stage stands at 21.4 percent.

He also inspected a cement silos project at the port, which includes four silos with a capacity of 10,000 tonnes each, designated for handling white and grey cement, alongside supporting service facilities.

El-Wazir said the Port of Arish, the only Mediterranean port in North Sinai, plays a critical role in supporting development and facilitating trade between Europe and Asia, as Egypt continues to position itself as a regional logistics and transit hub.
