Solar plant illuminates Gamasa city at cost of LE 18M

CAIRO - 11 April 2026: The solar power plant in Gamasa is one of the most important clean energy projects in the Dakahlia Governorate.

It was implemented as part of the state's drive to expand the use of renewable energy sources and reduce reliance on traditional energy sources.

The plant was established in 2016 at a total cost of approximately 18 million Egyptian pounds.

It operates with a production capacity of 1 megawatt of electricity, relying on solar energy as a clean and renewable source of power. This contributes to reducing harmful emissions and preserving the environment.

The plant includes a large number of solar panels that convert sunlight into electricity, which is then fed into the electricity grid to power the entire city of Gamasa's public lighting. This represents a practical model for renewable energy applications in coastal cities.

The project has also contributed to several important benefits, including:

- Providing a clean and sustainable energy source based on solar power.

- Reducing traditional electricity consumption and alleviating pressure on the national grid. Supporting the state's move towards renewable energy and reducing environmental pollution.

- Saving on the long-term operating costs of public lighting.

The solar power plant in Gamasa is part of a group of projects implemented by the state to support the transition to clean energy, in line with sustainable development plans and Egypt's vision for expanding the use of renewable energy in the coming years.
