CAIRO - 25 March 2026: Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, confirmed that navigation through the canal continues to operate normally and has not been affected by adverse weather conditions.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Rabie reported that the canal recorded the transit of 39 vessels from both directions, with a total net tonnage of approximately 1.6 million tons, reflecting the continued regularity of maritime traffic.
He also directed the implementation of comprehensive precautionary measures and protocols to address severe weather conditions, stressing the importance of strict adherence by all maritime units to navigation safety procedures—particularly during pilot boarding and disembarkation operations, as well as routine maritime activities.
Rabie further confirmed that the Crisis and Disaster Management Committee remains in continuous session around the clock to closely monitor navigation flow and ensure the full readiness of marine rescue teams. He noted that the alert level for rescue tugboats has been elevated to enable rapid response to any emergency situations.
In parallel, hospitals and medical centers affiliated with the authority, along with ambulance and firefighting services, have been placed on high readiness. Instructions have also been issued to maintain continuous coordination with operations rooms across the canal cities to provide immediate support when needed.
The Chairman emphasized that ferry crossings, bridges, and tunnels operated by the authority continue to provide transportation services for citizens between both banks of the canal in full compliance with maritime safety regulations and in close coordination with navigation offices in the three canal cities.
