Industry Min., Mercedez-Benz Egypt CEO discuss localizing automotive industry
CAIRO - 14 March 2026: Egyptian Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem held an extensive meeting with a delegation from Mercedes-Benz Egypt, headed by CEO Stefanie Volz, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and expand the company's operations in the Egyptian market in the coming period.
The meeting also addressed promising investment opportunities in Egypt's automotive sector, aligning with the government's plan to deepen local manufacturing and transfer advanced global technologies.
At the outset of the meeting, the Minister emphasized that the National Automotive Industry Development Program (AIDP) is a cornerstone for attracting major international brands through an unprecedented package of incentives aimed at localizing this vital industry in Egypt.
He added that localizing supporting industries is a top priority for the Ministry at this stage to ensure the development of a comprehensive industrial base.
The Minister of Industry invited company officials to explore the opportunities and advantages offered by this new program, considering the company's presence a cornerstone of this ambitious national project given its long history in Egypt.
The Minister listened to several operational challenges (procedural and customs-related) currently facing the company and the proposals presented by the company's delegation.
He also affirmed the Ministry's full readiness to provide all forms of support and close cooperation to the company, as well as immediate coordination with various relevant authorities to overcome any obstacles and ensure streamlined procedures, thereby guaranteeing the stability of the company's operations and the expansion of its investments within the Egyptian market.
For her part, Stefanie Volz, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Egypt, expressed the company’s eagerness to strengthen its strategic partnership with the Egyptian government, stressing the company’s pride in having started its operations in the market of Egypt for 26 years through a company headquarters that represents the parent brand, and this demonstrates Mercedes-Benz’s firm belief in the promising opportunities in Egypt.
