Egypt’s core inflation accelerates to 12.7% in February

CAIRO – 11 March 2026: Egypt’s core inflation recorded a stronger monthly increase in February 2026, according to data from the Central Bank of Egypt.

The central bank said the monthly change in the core Consumer Price Index reached 3.0 percent in February 2026, compared with 1.6 percent in February 2025 and 1.2 percent in January 2026.

On an annual basis, core inflation accelerated to 12.7 percent in February, up from 11.2 percent in January.

Separately, figures released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics showed that the monthly change in the urban headline Consumer Price Index stood at 2.8 percent in February 2026, compared with 1.4 percent in February 2025 and 1.2 percent in January 2026.

Year-on-year, urban headline inflation climbed to 13.4 percent in February 2026, up from 11.9 percent recorded in January, according to CAPMAS data.
