Egypt's food industry exports have seen a 43.2 percent increase since the 2021-2022 period, reaching a record $6.3 billion in 2024-2025, compared to $6 billion in 2023-2024, $4.8 billion in 2022-2023, and $4.4 billion in 2021-2022.
The Media Center of the Cabinet reported that despite global and regional challenges, Egypt's food industry has made substantial progress. The center shared an infographic that highlighted positive international feedback from Fitch Ratings, which confirmed that Egypt is a leading hub for food exports in the Middle East and North Africa. This recognition has encouraged both local and international companies to increase investments in expanding their production capacity in Egypt.
Fitch also commended the processed food sector, noting that it achieved a significant milestone by exceeding $6 billion in exports in 2024, marking the highest export value in the sector's history.
The report also spotlighted key factories and companies that achieved historic export levels, thanks to ambitious initiatives. One of these initiatives, the Production Support Initiative for industry and agriculture, was funded with 90 billion Egyptian pounds in the 2025-2026 fiscal year, with a reduced interest rate of 15 percent.
Among the notable companies is Silo Foods, which operates three factories, a specialized flour mill, and wheat storage silos. Another prominent company, the United Company for Drying Agricultural Products, has invested $30 million and is adding a new production line valued at $11 million, with over 90 percent of its production dedicated to exports.
Other notable companies include the Egyptian Swiss Group for pasta, milling, and concentrates, which exports about 65 percent of its production to over 40 countries, and the Mexicano Food Industries Factory, which invested $5 million, with 70 percent of its production allocated for export.
The data also revealed that the diversity of local production in 2025 has further enhanced food manufacturing and expanded export opportunities. Key production figures include 10.03 million tons of grains (wheat and barley), 189.8 thousand tons of legumes (beans, lentils, chickpeas, fenugreek), 17.77 million tons of sugar crops (sugar beets), and 8.78 million tons of vegetables.
Additionally, the country's production of red meat reached 600 thousand tons, white meat 2.5 million tons, fresh dairy 7 million tons, poultry (broilers) 1.6 billion birds, local chickens 360 million birds, table eggs 16 billion eggs, and fish 2.03 million tons.
