Egypt places high priority on electricity and energy sectors to support national development plans: Madbouly

Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly met today with Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, to review key developments in the electricity sector and ongoing strategic projects.
 
Madbouly emphasized that the energy sector is a national priority, highlighting its central role in supporting Egypt’s development plans, improving service quality for citizens, and creating an environment conducive to attracting investments.
 
During the meeting, Esmat presented the ministry’s achievements in modernizing the electricity network, including the completion of 34 new transformer stations across various voltage levels, integration into the national grid, and expansions covering 40 additional stations. 
 
The ministry has also installed 194,000 kilometers of distribution lines and 5,610 kilometers of transmission lines.
 
The minister confirmed ongoing efforts to reduce electricity losses and combat illegal connections, noting that authorities had documented 4.6 billion kWh of stolen electricity and installed 2.5 million coded meters to improve monitoring and efficiency.
 
On the El-Dabaa nuclear project, Esmat reviewed the latest execution status, confirming that the work is proceeding according to Egypt’s peaceful nuclear electricity program, in coordination with Russian partners.
 
The project is aligned with Egypt’s 2030 strategic vision, aiming to meet growing electricity demand, enhance energy security, and support sustainable development.
