CAIRO - 1 December 2025: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met Sunday with officials from AngloGold Ashanti, operator of the Sukari gold mine, to accelerate plans for increased production.
Madbouly praised the partnership, emphasizing Egypt’s "ambitious plans" to raise output from Sukari, the country's largest gold mine. He called for intensified coordination between the company and the government to expedite work, confirming his full support for measures benefiting the joint venture.
In the meeting, Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi highlighted the state's attention to the mining sector and praised the technological operation of Sukari, which ranks among the top ten gold mines globally.
Hoda Mansour, Managing Director and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sukari Gold Mines Company, reviewed several key points of cooperation with the government that will contribute to increasing the productivity of the Sukari gold mine.
AngloGold Ashanti Senior Vice President Terry Strong affirmed that investments in Egypt are "exceptionally positive,” driven by strong government support. He reiterated the company’s commitment to maximizing Egypt's benefit through job creation and skills development.
