El-Sisi ratifies law on oil exploration and development in Eastern Desert

CAIRO – 25 November 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has approved a law authorizing for the exploration, development and exploitation of oil in the Wadi El Sahl development area in the Eastern Desert.

Law No. 80 of 2025 authorizes the minister of petroleum and mineral resources to sign a contract with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and Lukoil Overseas Egypt Ltd. on this matter.
