CAIRO – 3 November 2025:  British energy giant BP has announced the start of production from the RW5 well, adding 80 million cubic feet of gas per day as part of the West Nile Delta project in Egypt.

In a statement, the company noted that this milestone coincides with increased output from the RW4 well, bringing the combined production from both new wells to around 140 million cubic feet per day since the start of this year.

Nader Zaki, BP’s Regional President for the Middle East and North Africa, said the new output is part of the additional wells program in the Raven field, reflecting BP’s ongoing commitment to support Egypt’s vision to meet local energy demand and advance its regional growth strategy.

Meanwhile, Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources recently announced the successful completion of drilling the Zohr-9 well in the Zohr natural gas field located in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Ministry stated that this effort aligns with the government’s strategy to strengthen domestic gas supplies and reduce natural gas import costs. Early results from the well indicate the presence of a gas-bearing layer, expected to yield around 70 million cubic feet of gas per day.
